Font Bundles’ Hobbyist plan comes with a personal-only license, so none of the selling columns apply to it. Creative Fabrica single purchases and freebies use the Single Sales License. An independent designer’s license can be anything, and the “designer or font shop” row describes typical desktop licenses as MyFonts explains them.

What changed on Etsy in 2025, and what it means for fonts

Etsy’s Creativity Standards sort every item into four groups: made by, designed by, handpicked by, or sourced by a seller. Etsy introduced them in July 2024; the current version was updated on June 10, 2025.

Cutting-machine items now need your own design. Items made with a Cricut, laser, CNC or 3D printer count as “made by a seller” only if they use the seller’s original design. How this touches fonts. Etsy’s standards don’t mention fonts at all. The way we read it, the two rules check different things. The font’s license decides whether you may sell text set in that font. Etsy’s rules decide whether the finished item counts as your design. A phrase you wrote and set in a properly licensed font passes both. A ready-made SVG you bought, even one with a commercial license, probably doesn’t meet the “original design” wording for Cricut-made items. Etsy doesn’t say this directly, so treat it as our interpretation.

Checklist before you list a product

Tick items as you go. The ticks are saved only in this browser.

Find the real license: the readme, EULA or license page. A label on a download page is only a hint. Source
Check that it covers this use: physical items, POD, a book, a digital file, a logo. They are often licensed separately. Source
Look for limits: unit caps (Cricut: 10,000 items a year), plan tiers (Font Bundles Hobbyist is personal-only), and whether a subscription must stay active. Source
Flatten or outline the text before sending artwork to a POD service or printer. Never upload or share the font file itself. Source
For KDP, fonts must be embedded in the PDF, so make sure the license allows embedding, or outline the text. Source
Don’t sell single letters or alphabet sets unless the license says you may. Source
Selling items made with Cricut content? Add “Includes Copyright Materials of Cricut” to the item or its tag. Source
On Etsy: use your own design, and disclose production partners and AI use in the listing. Source
Save a copy of the license with the date you downloaded the font. Some licenses depend on the plan or license version at download time. Source

If you need a commercial license anyway

The free way: use fonts under the OFL or Apache 2.0, like the ones in our bubble letter generator. If you want more choice, a subscription that includes a commercial license is one option. Creative Fabrica’s All Access subscription covers unlimited physical and digital products and print-on-demand, with fonts used as flattened designs.

“Basic POD” and “Full POD” are labels on Creative Fabrica’s graphics and craft files, not separate plans. Creative Fabrica currently sells two subscriptions: All Access for marketplace downloads, and Studio AI for its AI tools.

Know the limits before you pay: no trademark registration of anything made with CF assets, and no webfont or ebook embedding without an Enterprise license.
